The Missouri Motorcycle Safety Program (MMSP) is always looking for qualified motorcycle enthusiasts who have a desire to give back to the sport and other motorcycle riders. Formal teaching experience is not mandatory but recommended. A love of motorcycling and an ability to speak in front of a group are required. The MMSP utilizes the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's (MSF) Instructor/Rider Coach Preparation curriculum and is taught by MSF certified Chief Instructors/Rider Coach Trainers. Upon completion of the RiderCoach Prep, instructors receive a national certification through the MMSP and MSF for both the Basic RiderCourse (BRC) and Experienced RiderCourse (ERC). The RiderCoach Prep is a nine and a half day, 75+ hour intense program of instruction.


The following minimum qualifications must be met to be considered:

  • Possess a high school diploma or a G.E.D.
  • Own, and operate on a regular basis, a street legal motorcycle.
  • Have been a licensed driver for 5 years and have a "M" endorsement
  • Must meet the same criminal and driving record standards as the state’s requirements for obtaining a school bus license.
  • Agree to abide by MSF’s RiderCoach Rules of Professional Conduct
  • Agree to abide by MMSP’s RiderCoach Rules of Professional Conduct.
  • Able to attend the RiderCoach Preparation Course.
  • Able to attend the Mandatory Spring Up Date each March.
  • Available to teach a minimum of 3 courses in two years.


In order to be considered for acceptance in the program, interested persons must meet the same criminal and driving record standards as the state's requirements for obtaining a school bus license in Missouri.
